In this chapter I engage key thinkers in the theology-technology debate to clarify its theological stance. It examines Romano Guardini’s view of technology as an irreversible cultural shift, reflecting Catholic ambivalence toward modernity. Jacques Ellul represents Christian resistance to technology, offering a counterargument to the study’s thesis. Sister Prokes, a pioneer in Christian reflections on VR, critiques virtual worship by emphasizing the necessity of physical presence. While her approach differs, she reaches the same conclusion: VR cannot sustain Christian liturgical practices. Through these dialogues, the study situates its argument within broader theological discussions on technology, embodiment, and sacred space.
