This chapter reviews the benefits as well as the challenges of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the education of students with learning disabilities (LDs). LDs affect about 15% of children worldwide and are a major obstacle to educational achievement. One advancement in AI that is particularly useful for children with LDs is the large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, which can improve LDs diagnosis and provide individualized learning support. Besides, AI technology, including virtual tutors, assistive technologies, and AI-driven platforms, can help develop students’ cognitive and language skills. On the other hand, using AI tools has issues such as data privacy, algorithmic bias of tools, and equal access to resources, and also it demands undergoing training for the teachers. To ensure AI’s responsible and inclusive implementation in the education of students with LDs, further research is needed on its effectiveness, alongside collaboration between educators and AI developers to address these critical issues.
