The launch of Radio Werewolf on 1 April is described, along with examples of its broadcasts, notable for many absurd claims. In addition to a pronounced anti-Semitism, there was a frequent resort to atrocity propaganda. The station was keen to convey the false impression of it enjoying widespread popular support, as well it being the vanguard of “German socialism”. Its varied treatment on official Nazi radio is covered. The station’s insignificance regarding the course of the war and its rejection by most listeners, many of whom feared Allied retaliation, is clearly demonstrated.
