Physiology of Obesity and Obesity Related Diseases

The physiology of obesity is complex and multifaceted. Chronic inflammation and insulin resistance related to obesity is correlated with a host of comorbidities including coronary heart disease, atrial fibrillation, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, and type 2 diabetes mellitus. A strong understanding of the complex physiology related to obesity is important when treating patients.
