The Role of Technology Adoption as a Moderator in the Relationship Between Entrepreneurial Orientation and Sustainability Values Among Fintech Organisations in Malaysia
摘要
Despite Fintech’s growing relevance in shaping the socio-economic landscape, limited research has examined the factors that influence Fintech sustainability values in Malaysia. Only some studies have specifically addressed how entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and technology adoption (TA) contribute to sustainability outcomes, creating a gap in understanding how these elements interact within Fintech firms. This paper attempts to bridge the gap by investigating the relationships between EO, TA, and sustainability values (SV), offering insights into Fintech’s role in promoting social and financial inclusion. Using a descriptive correlational research design, data was collected from 121 Malaysian Fintech firms through a self-administered survey. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) of SmartPLS 4.1.0.3 was used to analyse the relationships between EO and SV, with TA as a moderating factor. Key findings demonstrate that both EO and TA significantly affect SV. TA moderates the relationship between EO dimensions, such as ‘risk-taking’, ‘proactiveness’, ‘innovativeness’, and SV, underscoring the critical role of technology adoption in enhancing sustainability outcomes. This paper extends the Resource-Based View (RBV) theory and the extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), highlighting how EO and TA combine to drive sustainability values. The paper contributes to theoretical understanding by integrating EO and TA to enhance knowledge of Fintech’s impact on sustainability development. It also offers practical implications, emphasising the importance of EO and TA in achieving social and financial inclusion through innovative financial services. Future research should explore varied methodologies or sectors to expand on these findings.
