Over the past few decades, aquaculture sector has significantly evolved in increasing of fish production along with crustaceans, molluscs, and algae. Due to this, aquaculture is now considered as one of the leading sectors for aquatic food production worldwide. As a result, sizeable human population relies on fish as well as seafood items as sources of essential proteins and micronutrients. It has been suggested that by 2050, the global human population will exceed 9 billion, necessitating a 50% increase in the demand for fish as a protein source to meet this growing need. Although various factors, such as the widespread adoption of mixed aquafeeds and advancements in culture system fortification, contribute to the speedy extension of contemporary aquaculture, this sector still faces significant challenges with the emergence of diseases during the farming activities. The expenses associated with treating infections and the resulting fish mortality contribute to increased production costs, ultimately hindering growth and sustainability of aquaculture operations.
