Smart Vision: A Machine Learning-Based Object Detection System for the Visually Impaired
摘要
This research investigates a novel navigation system designed to enhance independence for individuals with visual impairments. By integrating advanced assistive technologies with established blind navigation techniques, this system aims to improve safety and quality of life. A core component of this system is a hardware-based object detection module. Leveraging cutting-edge deep learning algorithms such as You Only Look Once (YOLO) and Single Shot MultiBox Detector (SSD), this module provides real-time identification and feedback on surrounding objects through wearable devices. This real-time information empowers visually impaired individuals with enhanced situational awareness, enabling safer and more confident navigation within their environments. The focus of this research lies in developing an inclusive and accessible technology that significantly improves the overall mobility and independence of visually impaired individuals.
