One of the most confusing issues in approaching the “big ocean” of the Eagle syndrome is the real problem of the too many terms that are in use for defining different features of the same clinical-pathological entity. For that reason, we hope that it will be useful for the reader to shortly list many of the prevalent definitions in the literature and to define their meaning in a very short way. We included some related terms featuring some unusual, not well-recognized, but possible complications.
