The author performed a fault-finding study of mammoplasty scars after mammoplasties were carried out to treat breast hypertrophy and ptosis and presents his own technique for mammoplasty based on those of Pitanguy and Hollander and his followers. He analyzed their location and shape, in addition to their advantages and disadvantages. He proposes a technique, which, besides achieving a good breast shape, reduces the length of the scars. The submammarian segment is of variable length according to the degree of hypertrophy or ptosis, never surpassing the projection of the anterior axillary line. The submammarian scar is camouflaged in the sulcus. A small scar is left, in the shape of a comma, a J, or an inverted L. The shape is natural and aesthetically pleasing.
