By conceptualizing megaprojects as systems of interdependent sub-projects, we argue that beyond the conventional skills required for project management, specific meta-skills are crucial for supporting integration and coordination activities. Meta-soft skills are higher-order, cross-functional competencies that enable project managers to synthesize and apply traditional soft skills in more complex and adaptive ways. Rather than being task-specific, these skills facilitate a holistic approach to managing the dynamic and interconnected elements of megaprojects. This study, drawing on an extensive review of project management literature, identifies key soft skills essential for project managers and provides a critical reflection on the meta-skills required to enhance collaboration, integration, and innovation within megaproject environments. Moreover, we propose an educational model tailored to cultivate these meta-soft skills, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application. By positioning meta-soft skills as integral to megaproject leadership and performance, this research provides novel insights and actionable strategies to address the multifaceted challenges of megaprojects, ultimately contributing to more resilient and adaptive project outcomes in the face of global complexity and uncertainty.
