The acceptance of autonomous vehicles (AVs) depends on understanding the psychological, social, and technological factors that shape user perceptions and willingness to use this technology. This study examines key determinants influencing AV acceptance among Croatian residents, including perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived control, social influence, satisfaction, and behavioral intention. Data were collected through an online survey and analyzed using non-parametric statistical methods to assess differences across age, gender, and frequency of AV use. The findings indicate that AVs are generally perceived as beneficial and user-friendly, with high satisfaction levels among respondents. Younger users reported lower perceived control, suggesting limited confidence in AV decision-making and override capabilities, which may hinder broader adoption. However, no statistically significant differences were observed across gender and usage frequency for any of the analyzed constructs. Social influence emerged as a key factor, highlighting the role of peer opinions and media narratives in shaping user perceptions. These insights underscore the need for regulatory frameworks, targeted education, and trust-building measures to enhance public confidence in AV technology. By providing region-specific findings, this study contributes to the broader discourse on AV implementation, emphasizing the importance of user-centered design and policy interventions in facilitating the transition to autonomous mobility.
