Change in Stool Caliber
摘要
Stool habits can be a less comfortable topic of discussion, even between healthcare providers and patients due to societal norms and connotation. However, questions regarding stooling, specifically acute or chronic changes, can provide diagnostic value for both benign and malignant conditions. Identifying a useful set of questions regarding bowel habits and attributing findings to specific diagnostic workup algorithms can aid healthcare professionals in the identification of surgical diseases such as colon cancer versus gastroenterological disease processes such as irritable bowel syndrome.
