Nowadays, cement production is a polluting factor for the population due to the smoke generated and the gases radiated such as carbon monoxide, dioxides, and hydrocarbons, among others for it to be produced, which can cause cancer to those exposed to such production. Therefore, this study investigates the use of coconut shell ash as a partial replacement for cement to improve mechanical properties of sustainable concrete. Three different mix designs were made, one is the standard design, and the others with 5% and 8% coconut shell ash. As for the days of curing in each of the mix designs, it is observed that the compressive strength increases concerning the maximum design strength (210 kg/cm2). The compressive strength increased to 12.5% for the standard design. The tensile strength also improves through the days of curing in each mix design. It can be concluded, after having carried out the mechanical tests by the standard, that this approach not only improves the properties of the concrete but also reduces the environmental impact of cement production by incorporating coconut shell ash.

摘要
