Big Data Analytics and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)
摘要
While the potential benefits of digital transformation are widely touted in prestigious literature, little is known about how big data analytics (BDA) can contribute to social, environmental, and governance (ESG) issues. This study examines the relevance of big data analytics capability (BDAC) integrated with digital dynamic capabilities for ESG performance. Using a scalar-type questionnaire (Likert), primary data were extracted from multinational companies from different sectors in Brazil. The results suggest that companies, investors, governments, etc. must invest in the adoption of BDAC integrated with dynamic and digital capabilities to reap ESG benefits. This study is original, fills a gap in the literature, and makes significant contributions: (i) it shows stakeholders that it is worth investing in BDAC integrated with digital dynamic capabilities to increase the performance of ESG issues; (ii) sheds light on managers who intend to advance ESG initiatives enabled by digital technologies; (iii) serves as a guide for managers who intend to adopt ESG initiatives as a strategy to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals; (iv) enriches existing literature on BDAC and digital dynamic capabilities for ESG performance.
