Growing environmental concerns and climate change are forcing businesses to add sustainability into their basic operations. Important steps in this direction include creating a green workplace culture and implementing green human resource management, or green HRM. This chapter explores the potential long-term ecological and financial benefits of integrating Green HRM with a sustainability-focused workplace culture. Green HRM integrates environmental responsibility into several processes of HRM, such as employee engagement, performance review, training, and hiring. Hiring environmentally conscious workers, providing training on sustainability, and encouraging the adoption of green practices all contribute to the reduction of the employer’s environmental impact. Sustainability then becomes a shared organizational goal where there is a strong green culture that ensures that these principles are embedded at every level. It increases consumer trust, employee dedication, and reputation if Green HRM is aligned with a sustainability-focused culture. During this transition, leadership is crucial. Sustainability-supportive leaders inspire employees and drive change. However, resistance to new policies and budget constraints may hinder progress. Effective communication, strategic planning, and committed employees are all required to counter challenges. To achieve long-term corporate resilience and environmental stewardship, this chapter emphasizes the strong link between Green HRM and a sustainability-based culture.
