The artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) remains the gold standard for the management of male stress urinary incontinence, particularly in patients who have undergone treatment for prostate cancer. Despite the device’s overall success since the first AUS was implanted in 1972, complications persist and are an inevitable risk of surgery. One such complication is the risk of urethral erosion. In this video chapter, we will discuss appropriate AUS cuff sizing to reduce the risk of cuff erosion and upon recognition of urethral erosion, methods of management including device explantation.
