Pattachitra is a unique ancient Indian art form that has survived the trials of time and is recently gaining prominence. Several online platforms are selling pattachitras globally and the bloggers and the reporters are also bringing this art form to limelight through their writings. However, one aspect of this important art form is gradually transitioning to antiquity and that is, the song that tells the story painted by the artist. Like many other art forms, it is incumbent to save the pattachitra from losing its essence – the storytelling through the unification of song and visual art. Therefore, we make an attempt in this work to preserve the art form through digital platform and also facilitate the artists to monetize their work through the same platform. Moreover, we also explore the copyright protection possibilities of these paintings through cutting-edge technologies such as blockchain. In this paper, we investigate the need for the platform, outline its detailed design and discuss how it may resolve the challenge highlighted. We have used Smart Technologies to realize the online digital platform accessible through both smartphone and computers. Additionally, we also utilize blockchain technology for copyright protection of the pattachitra artwork created by the artists and copyright infringement detection.
