The Role of ChatGPT in Advancement of Cardiovascular Medicine: Disease Diagnosis, Management and Future Directions
摘要
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the leading cause of mortality worldwide, with about eight million deaths reported annually. The lack of efficient diagnostic tools and timely treatment of CVDs has contributed to the rising mortality. Timely diagnosis and prompt management of CVDs are essential to combat the growing death rate. The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly with large language models such as ChatGPT has unlocked a paradigm-shift in cardiovascular medicine. This review investigates the potential of ChatGPT in enhancing and strengthening the clinical workflow to support cardiologists and patients in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease, cardiac symptom analysis, decision support, patient care, diagnostics and advancing cardiovascular education. We highlight the critical challenges that ChatGPT is facing in healthcare, particularly its application in cardiovascular medicine, including ethical concerns, data privacy, user safety, bias and equity issues, transparency concerns, academic integrity, and we discuss possible approaches for mitigation. Finally, we explore the future of ChatGPT by proposing key strategies to improve the human-AI interaction, and to further enhance its safe application in cardiovascular medicine. ChatGPT emerges as a real-time transformative tool with great potential to enhance treatment outcomes, raise the standard of care, and promote research innovation as cardiovascular medicine adopts AI. Understanding and leveraging this potential is critical for the future of heart health.
