Immersive technologies for education in the form of virtual reality have been in use for quite some time, given their potential to provide a realistic, interactive, and simulated learning environment. In this paper, we aim to explore the potential that immersive technology offers to transform a traditional e-Learning course into an immersive one. It focuses on the transformation process guided by systematic learning design approaches, such as the ADDIE framework, to ensure that the shift from traditional e-learning to immersive learning is structured. By using the ADDIE framework, we want to ensure that we promote effective immersive learning experience that meets the needs of our learners and achieve the desired learning outcomes. Within this framework, we also integrated the learning design strategies of replication, adaptation, and reconceptualization, to tailor the immersive learning environment to our educational goals. This paper synthesizes the strategic approaches to learning design of immersive learning.
