This chapter offers two novel frameworks: a Framework for the Foundations of STEM Education and a Framework for Enhanced STEM Integration. The foundations of STEM education are not merely confined to curricular reforms but represent a significant paradigm shift in educational practices and philosophies. Influenced by the progressive education movement of the early twentieth century and educational philosophers like John Dewey, STEM education fosters experiential learning, problem-solving, and critical thinking. This chapter sets the stage for understanding how theoretical underpinnings can be leveraged to create educational systems that prepare students for future challenges and catalyze national development and competitiveness on the global stage. By adopting a constructivist approach, STEM education in Zimbabwe positions students as active participants in their educational journey, encouraging them to engage with and construct knowledge through meaningful interactions and experiences.

摘要
