The COVID-19 pandemic has posed unprecedented challenges for the travel industry, while prompting new preferences in the attitudes of individuals, who are becoming increasingly concerned with safety, privacy, closeness to nature and environmental preservation. It is against this backdrop that the phenomenon of glamping is emerging. With its focus on isolation and open spaces, this type of nature-based tourism has been able to meet travellers’ changing needs, proving to be a resilient business model. Accordingly, this study aims at assessing the current state of the glamping proposal in Italy. A questionnaire was submitted to a sample of 43 owners and/or managers of active glamping facilities, to identify the main attributes of the latter, as well as strengths and limitations of the offer.
