Financial Market Dynamics of the Blue Economy: An Econometric Analysis of Sectoral Performance and Investment Implications
摘要
The Blue Economy, which assimilates the sustainable use of ocean resources with economic growth and environmental preservation, has attracted global importance. An innovative Blue Economy Index has been introduced to examine the financial dynamics of ocean-based industries, including metals and mining, ports and logistics, offshore energy, shipping, fishing, and marine engineering. Using daily time-series data from May 2022 to July 2024, the study examines the dynamic relationships between future maturity prices and open interest and trading volume. This study uses the Vector Auto-Regressive model, Granger-causality tests, impulse response functions, and variance decomposition analysis, highlighting market sentiment, price discovery mechanisms, and investor behaviour within the Blue Economy sector. The findings show the extent to which open interest and trading volume influence future maturity prices, helping various market stakeholders. This study fills the gap between financial markets and sustainability with a structured methodology to measure the economic significance of ocean-based industries.
