AP VoteCast reported similar results, with Trump leading 54–44%. This marked a major shift from 2020, when exit polls showed Vice President Joe Biden either tied or slightly ahead in Catholic voting against President Trump. A significant shift among Catholic voters occurred among Latino Catholics, who had voted 66% for Biden in 2020 but shifted to 55% for Trump in the Washington Post exit poll, or 60% in AP VoteCast, in 2024. The Catholic vote results in 2024 were a profound disappointment to Catholic progressive groups that had organized to support the Democratic Party ticket and had worked for years to bring Catholics back to their historically strong Democratic partisan voting.
