Trump’s victory was shaped by strong anti-incumbency sentiment and economic dissatisfaction. This enabled Trump’s campaign to boost turnout in heavily Republican areas, erode Democratic margins in key strongholds and among core constituencies, and make inroads in regions where Republicans are gaining strength and Democrats recede.
