Throughout the 2024 campaign, it was suggested that the criminal prosecutions of Donald Trump had the effect of advantaging his campaign for the White House, highlighting systemic politicization of the justice system and casting Trump as the victim of “lawfare.” This chapter investigates the rise of the “lawfare” narrative and how it was disseminated through elite conservative media to bolster several interconnected campaign themes that animate Donald Trump’s unique appeal to voters.
