In this chapter we look at some of the challenges of youth digital sexual intimacies at Central Comprehensive, a school environment shaped by religious views. This is the most deprived school we worked in, located in an inner-city borough, with nearly 70% of the students categorised English as a second language and nearly 65% of students eligible for free school meals. A large percentage of Bangladeshi Muslim students attend the school, with female students and staff wearing hijab. We explore how sexual double standards, gendered sexual shaming and victim blaming play out in this context, when a Muslim girl is the victim of image based sexual harassment and abuse via a fake dick pic, and ostracised from her peer group. Analysing this as an episode of tech facilitated honour-based violence, we found the girls at this school had internalised religious specific misogyny, whereas some of the older boys demonstrated concern over sexualised violence and empathy for girls. We argue there is an urgent need for better culturally specific digital literacy and sex education and that a religious legitimated abstinence approach denying them such education will only make gendered power inequalities worse.
