This paper discusses the identification of four barriers that impede the use of technology to achieve sustainable water management. These barriers were uncovered during the data collection and analysis phases of a research project focused on water consumption monitoringMonitoring in the food industry, using low-cost technology. The project involved conducting 43 monitoringMonitoring campaigns across 17 companies. The results of the project highlight a potential savings of over 1 million litres of water per day across these companies. Furthermore, the project found significant savings in water use for cleaning and sterilization processes for some of the companies.
