Fear of Aversive Consequences Case Study (Hannah)
摘要
Hannah is a 13-year-old cisgender female who presents with a 10-pound weight loss from restrictive eating due to concerns about multiple food allergies (Fig. 20.1). Three months ago, Hannah experienced lip swelling and a single episode of vomiting after consuming walnut sourdough bread at a restaurant. Following that episode, her parents report several additional allergic reactions to food items with symptoms consisting of lip tingling and swelling, throat “pressure”, or abdominal pain. She did not have any further episodes of vomiting. She obtained testing through an on-line, home testing company and was told that she has multiple food allergies including nuts (walnuts), fruits (coconut, cantaloupe), and certain legumes and vegetables (soy, green pea, pumpkin, onion). Her parents are very concerned about ensuring foods presented to her do not include any “unsafe” ingredients. Hannah denies body image concerns and does not want to lose weight. However, she expresses concern about having another allergic episode.
