Sensory Outpatient Case Study (Jose)
摘要
Jose is a 15-year-old cisgender male with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) whose parents express concern about the limited food variety in his diet. Throughout childhood, Jose has been growing appropriately with a BMI that has tracked between the 50th and 75th percentiles (Fig. 15.1). His meals and snacks consist of a limited number of items including chicken nuggets (specific supermarket brand), French fries, cheese quesadillas made with Mexican cheese, and tortilla chips (specific supermarket brand). At times, he has tried different types of bread (ie, Mexican pan dulce or sweet breads) that he will eat frequently for 2–3 weeks, but then refuses secondary to being sick of it. Jose consumes a daily multivitamin. While Jose is not bothered by his food intake, his parents expressed concern that he has a 1-week long school trip that he would like to attend in 3 months. They are worried that he may not be able to eat appropriately if he cannot access his preferred foods. Jose agrees that he would like to be able to join the school trip and is willing to work on increasing variety in his food repertoire. However, he isn’t excited about changing his routines or preferences.
