This shows the necessity of avoiding development mistakes since other more vulnerable places may suffer the environmental, social, and economic consequences. The notions of green infrastructure argue that natural systems should survive city building. For instance, urban resilience projects that reduce climate change include animals, vegetation, ecosystems, sustainable runoff management, and urban tree canopy correction. Thus, planning should accommodate these when and when needed. Smart cities increase urban living technology and sustainability. IoT, big data, and AI are used to build new cities from the bottom up to optimize resource usage, energy use, and public service accessibility. This chapter examines the creation of an accessible low-carbon transportation network that includes electric automobiles, alternative public transit, and nonmotorized activities like walking and biking. African and Asian smart cities use renewables, garbage management, and skyline digitalization. The same goes for underdeveloped nations. However, socioeconomic difficulties, insufficient policy advice, and a lack of funding still hinder sustainable urbanization.
