The Meta-Aporia of Black Flesh and White Bloodlust looks at how a human body and Black flesh relate different to ShakespeareShakespeare, William’s narratives and the audience reception of them. This chapter analyses the vastly disparate responses to using productions of Julius Caesar to stage the assassination of two sitting presidents—a Barack Obama-esque Caesar in a 2012 production by The Acting Company and a Donald Trump clone in a 2017 production at the Public Theatre. This chapter will analyze the responses to these two stagings as they intersect with the history and current paradigmatic structures of race in America, as well as extrapolate what these stagings tell us about color conscious casting of ShakespeareShakespeare, William’s work.

The Meta-Aporia of Black Flesh and White Bloodlust looks at how a human body and Black flesh relate different to ShakespeareShakespeare, William’s narratives and the audience reception of them.
