In this chapter, the core question to be explored is as follows: “How does fear of the future shape environmental movements?” Fear is not a sole feeling; rather, it consists of major environmental and social anxieties and frustrations about the world. Climate anxiety as a rising concept is explained through various examples. Different emotional narratives are addressed to show the level of frustration of people. The debate on “ecological threats” is integrated to unravel the triggering impact of threats that lead to rising fear. Then, the role of fear in shaping reactive social responses and environmental mobilizations is analysed. These mobilizations are accounted as a large-scale social push for redesigning environmental policies to create social change such as school strikes, student movements, and diverse movements.
