Industrial Symbiosis, a Key Strategy for Building Resilient and Sustainable Supply Chains
摘要
In a world where companies are under rising pressure to be more resilient while also improving sustainability, industrial symbiosis is gaining interest among academics and practitioners. This research investigates these concepts through a case study of an Amsterdam-based bakery network which turned a simple bread chain to a sustainability beacon, nurturing mutually beneficial, resilient, and sustainable operations, following without realising it industrial symbiosis principles. Our research aims to dissect the operations, strategies and inherent collaborations or conflicts involved in the management of such a network. Through interviews of network partners, we wish to uncover and construct empirically based archetypes connecting industrial symbiosis, resilience, and sustainability, providing an enhanced understanding of their collective impact on extended networks. This case study offers unique insights that may shows the way towards more resilient and sustainable supply chains.
