Crime Prevention
摘要
This chapter explores a broad range of crime prevention strategies rooted in criminological theories that reduce criminal opportunities and address offender motivations. The chapter illustrates the efficacy of modifying ambient conditions to deter crime by examining Situational Crime Prevention, Defensible Space Theory, Routine Activity Modification, and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. These measures are designed to manage access in both physical and digital domains, encourage natural surveillance, and modify situational factors. While acknowledging broader structural influences, it emphasises the impact of cultural attitudes, norms, and nudges on security behaviours, with a particular emphasis on social psychology. Ultimately, a comprehensive strategy that integrates environmental, behavioural, and organisational interventions is the most effective method for long-term risk reduction and sustainable crime deterrence.
