Parasomnias
摘要
Parasomnias represent a distinct group of sleep disorders characterized by unusual behaviors and experiences that arise during sleep and that people sometimes have no recollection of. Unlike disorders that affect falling or staying asleep, parasomnias involve a blurring between sleep and wakefulness, where parts of the brain remain asleep while others become partially active. Non-REM parasomnias like sleepwalking and sleep terrors typically occur during deep sleep early in the night, while REM parasomnias such as REM Sleep Behavior Disorder happen during dream sleep in the second half of the night when muscle paralysis fails to suppress movement. Other include sleep talking, sleep-related eating, teeth grinding, and sleep paralysis. While some parasomnias resolve naturally, especially in children, others may require specific treatments including medications, safety measures, and behavioral therapies to protect both the affected person and their bed partner.
