Practical Approaches to GIS Data Analysis
摘要
This chapter explored the practical approaches of GIS data analysis, focusing on methods and tools for extracting insights from geographical data to support decision-making. It began by highlighting the significance of GIS data analysis and outlining processes such as data approaches, practical practices, formats, and integration to ensure accuracy and reliability. Techniques for analyzing raster and vector data were discussed, alongside the use of geoprocessing tools and spatial manipulation methods like buffering, clipping, and interpolation. The chapter also examined diverse data sources, including analogue maps, satellite imagery, GPS, and agency reports, and emphasized the importance of geoprocessing workflows, model builders, and scripting for automating and streamlining analysis. Emerging trends such as integrating remote sensing and big data analytics with PGIS were explored, along with the challenges of ensuring data privacy, ethics, and transparency. In conclusion, the chapter provided a comprehensive overview of GIS methodologies, offering practical insights into data preparation, analysis, visualization, and decision support while addressing key issues and advancements in the field. Therefore, the chapter emphasizes the importance of clear communication as well as the issues and emerging developments in GIS data analysis. The chapter investigates these concerns in order to give readers practical knowledge and skills for efficiently studying geographical data with GIS tools and procedures.
