摘要
This chapter provides a comprehensive framework for promoting safety during the treatment of severe behavior in applied settings. The authors discuss common topographies of severe behavior and their risks, along with barriers families face in accessing appropriate care. Recommendations are offered for antecedent safety strategies, including screening procedures, environmental modifications, and staff training. Emphasis is placed on prevention, preparedness, and proactive treatment planning to reduce injury risk. The chapter also highlights the importance of facility design and individualized therapy spaces. These guidelines support clinicians and organizations in maintaining a culture of safety while delivering effective behavioral interventions.
