Promoting Long-Term Behavior Change for Children with Autism and Feeding Difficulties
摘要
This chapter addresses relapse and long-term behavior change in the treatment of feeding difficulties among children with autism. The authors outline the prevalence and risks of change-resistant feeding behavior and its clinical implications. Emphasis is placed on ensuring safety and competency in feeding interventions, along with the use of empirically supported treatments. The chapter discusses relapse during feeding treatment, including factors like mealtime rigidity and inappropriate mealtime behaviors. Practical relapse-mitigation strategies are reviewed, and the authors call for additional research to improve treatment durability in feeding interventions.
