Nepal, China, India, and Pakistan are the four countries with the Himalaya historically interconnected through cultural and religious exchanges. This study explores the relationships among these nations by examining the diversity, similarities, and cultural uses of Prunus L. (cherry) species. Field observations and a review of secondary data were employed for data collection and analysis. A total of 140 Prunus species were identified across these countries, with China hosting the highest number (121 species), followed by India (39), Nepal (19), and Pakistan (16). Five Prunus species were found to be shared across all four countries. The cultural utilization of Prunus in Nepal demonstrated greater similarities with India than with China or Pakistan. Collaborative efforts among these countries are imperative for the conservation and sustainable use of Prunus species.
