This chapter seeks to explore the ethics of Jesus and how it can motivate the government of Zimbabwe to support and protect its people from disasters such as Cyclone Idai. Given the everyday usage and mirror reading of the Bible in Zimbabwe, the chapter assumes that the ethics of Jesus about building houses on the rocks may be replicated by both the government and the citizens to be proactive against disasters in future. This chapter concedes that ethical perspectives have been explored in depth, and the figures and facts on disaster risk reduction legislation and Institutions in Zimbabwe in the face of meteorological hazards have been explored. However, fresh theological lenses to explore the same are needed. Therefore, the contextual interpretation of Mathew 7:24–25 may stimulate the government to consider establishing strong infrastructure bases for its people in preparation for such future adversities. The chapter concludes that disaster preparedness is important to both the government and citizens for the future prevention of such disasters.

摘要

This chapter seeks to explore the ethics of Jesus and how it can motivate the government of Zimbabwe to support and protect its people from disasters such as Cyclone Idai.
