Remote Sensing for Agricultural Water Management
摘要
Remote sensing (RS) plays a significant role in agricultural water management by providing valuable information for enhancing crop productivity, optimizing water use, and ensuring sustainable water resource management. The RS explores the topics such as detecting water stress in crops, estimating crop water requirements through evapotranspiration modeling, assessing water availability and mapping, optimizing irrigation scheduling, and monitoring and mitigating water-related issues like floods, salinity, and waterlogging. The combination of RS with geographic information systems (GIS) is also discussed as a means to enhance decision-making in water management. It then introduces RS as a powerful tool for monitoring and assessing water resources in agriculture. RS technologies, including satellite, aerial, and drone RS, as well as ground-based RS, along with their respective applications and properties are also dealt with. Also discussed are future challenges and trends for agricultural water management, including advancements in technology, data accessibility, and integration with artificial intelligence and machine learning. It highlights the need for continued research and development to harness the full potential of RS in addressing water scarcity and ensuring food security in agricultural systems. It emphasizes the potential of RS in improving water use efficiency (WUE), enhancing crop yields, and supporting sustainable water management practices. Overall, RS offers important opportunities for improving agricultural water management practices, promoting sustainable water use and enabling informed decision-making in agriculture.
