This chapter gives an exploration of diasporic soft power of the Indian Americans in the Cold War period. It probes the impact of the Cold War world order and domestic politics on the immigration and diaspora policies of India and the US, analysing how these macro changes impacted the demographic composition of the Indian American community. In this context, it starts with the evaluation of the labor this community came to comprise due to policy changes. It looks at the impact of this changed labor composition which transformed the financial and intellectual capability of this community and considers how this, in turn, led to the emergence of community elites. These elites took the lead in organizing this community into varied associations, groups, and organizations to combat nostalgia and raise awareness of the impact of hate crimes and racism. These developments would lay the foundation for the exercise of soft power in the future.
