The First-Born and the Single Gifted Child: Findings from Three Decades of Cohorts
摘要
In this study, we have examined some issues concerning birth order among the gifted. We have determined gender differences in participation rates among first-borns and single children; examined tendencies towards decreases or increases of participation of first-born and single children from the 80ies until 2003; studied the influence of the Szold Institute giftedness examinations, taken in the Tel Aviv area in grade 2, on the participation rate of first-born in all three cohorts, and compared the age differences of the first-born child when starting the Young Persons’ Institute's courses to the mean age of the new participant in 1982, 1993, and 2003.
