Pyogenic granuloma (PG), also known as lobular capillary hemangioma, is a common benign vascular proliferation in children. It is characterized by rapid growth and appears as a soft reddish papule, nodule, or polypoid lesion, often bleeding following minor traumas. Five main dermatoscopy findings have been recognized in PG: reddish homogeneous area, white collarette, white rail lines, vascular structures (telangiectasias, hairpin vessels, dotted vessels, etc.), and ulceration. Although none of these single signs is specific for PG, the combination of three or more of them is very indicative for the diagnosis. Dermatoscopy may also be useful for the evaluation of treatment response.
