Planning for Wellness in Mind and Body
摘要
It is important to plan for mind-body wellness because our decision-making about our well-being is increasingly complicated by pseudoscience, misinformation, disinformation, uneven health literacy, and an overwhelming array of choices. A personal wellness plan is a guide to setting interrelated and meaningful goals, identifying relevant and accurate health information, and tracking progress toward optimal wellness outcomes. First, it is important to complete a thorough self-assessment of assets and needs across the eight dimensions of wellness. A sensible self-assessment will be likely to produce goals that we can clearly articulate, are relevant and important, and for which we can foresee the possible outcome(s) that we can reasonably expect to achieve. Then we can establish SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) goals as part of our overall wellness plan. It is important to stay motivated in ways that are relevant to the individual and to track achievements toward both interim and final goal attainment. Finally, the setting in which we work on our wellness goals matters, and it can be beneficial to join a wellness program that meets our individual needs.
