Trans People and Employment: Proposals for Socio-Occupational Intervention from the Perspective of Social Work
摘要
Transgender people constitute a vulnerable social group in many areas, especially in the work sphere, where they encounter difficulties both in finding employment and within the workplace itself. With the aim of developing proposals for socio-occupational intervention that help to improve the integration processes of this group, this research has used a qualitative methodology through interviews with 15 professionals who work within the field of social intervention with sexual diversity and gender identity in Spain. The results show that awareness-raising projects and business training programs are two of the most commonly agreed-upon interventions to improve the employment processes for transgender people, together with business mentoring and the design of specific integration projects. Corporate Social Work also stands out as a reference figure in social intervention processes. Social workers must position themselves as a facilitator, a mediator, and an agent of change in work environments, ensuring that trans people not only gain employment but also sustain and thrive in their career paths while transforming businesses into inclusive and respectful spaces globally.
