This chapter presents an analysis of the mechanisms of perception through perceptual prostheses. Using minimalist devices, we gain a better understanding of possible explanations for the appropriation of the prosthesis and the type of perception it affords. In particular, we discuss the conditions for the perception of objects at a distance in front of us. For this, it seems helpful to defend an “enactive externalism”.

摘要

This chapter presents an analysis of the mechanisms of perception through perceptual prostheses. Using minimalist devices, we gain a better understanding of possible explanations for the appropriation of the prosthesis and the type of perception it affords. In particular, we discuss the conditions for the perception of objects at a distance in front of us. For this, it seems helpful to defend an “enactive externalism”.
