This chapter provides some elements necessary for efficient training of visually impaired persons in orientation and mobility. Both environments, familiar and unfamiliar are considered, as well as safe and efficient moving in them. The chapter explains the specific mobility challenges of people with visual impairment and strategies and techniques used to improve orientation and mobility. It is also addressed the use of mobility assistive devices helping persons with visual impairment to travel safely and in presence of steps, curbs, ramps, different illumination conditions, in presence and absence of traffic lights, adapting to the changes in terrain and obstacles.
