This chapter examines the ‘clinical turn’ promoted by Italian Lacanians in the postmillennial reception of Lacan’s theory, shifting away from academic appropriations in non-clinical fields. It argues that Italian Lacanians place the primacy of the real at the core of their clinical practice, which is essential for understanding contemporary psychopathology where the drive and jouissance are central. The chapter explores the new symptoms at the intersection of psychopathology and social discourse, particularly Recalcati’s concept of the subject without unconscious. It discusses Lacanian clinics in Italy, highlighting their social commitment and community engagement.
