In every manufacturing industry, maintenance plays a vital role in the growth of a company. The impact of maintenance has heretofore been underestimated, in fact costing companies about five times more. The consequences of failing to keep up with maintenance are heavy losses to the company: directly affecting the rate of production, not meeting the product delivery times, and finally losing customers and undermining the company’s reputation in the market. These days, industries encounter neck-and-neck competition in delivering quality products to customers. Therefore, to remain competitive in this era, industries need to follow the latest trends and adopt the latest techniques of maintenance with the full support of computers, including mobile phones and tablets. The fast, ongoing developments in information and communication technology, the Internet of Things (IoT) in industry, mobile technology, and machine-to-machine communication have allowed maintenance to function more smoothly for companies. Computerized maintenance management systems (CMMSs) provide the best possible solution for industries to effectively use their resources to achieve a competitive edge in the market. Companies that have implemented CMMSs have reaped numerous benefits, such as reduced downtime, which has increased the availability and reliability of their equipment and has extended the life of equipment and ultimately contributed to the growth of those companies.
